Primary Responsibilities:
Perform technical analysis for both prospective and existing public and private biotech investments
Review, synthesize, and present disease pathophysiology, drug mechanism of action, PK/PD, preclinical and clinical data, CMC/regulatory considerations, and prevalence/incidence data for internally-generated reports and presentations
Know, or be willing to learn, how to evaluate the above data points to generate actionable investment theses
Monitor a variety of data sources to detect changes in fundamental and sentiment changes for portfolio positions, and identify potential risks to current investments
Maintain a critical approach to data interpretation, with a focus on independent verification of assumptions
Requirements:
Passion for biotech investing on both the public and private side
At minimum MS degree, preferably M.D. or Ph.D. in a life sciences field
A desire to learn how to synthesize highly complex information, distill it to key questions, generate an investment theses, and test theses objectively
Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to take detailed notes in real-time during presentations, company meetings and calls
1-3 yrs of experience in the life sciences/biotech/healthcare or healthcare investments/finance industry, with experience in venture capital, public investing, basic, clinical, or regulatory roles at a biotech or pharmaceutical company, biotech or pharma business development, investment banking, equity research, or biotech consulting.
