EC1 is working for a true global leader in the logistics space that provides innovative software that helps its clients make better informed decisions based on real-time data and usable insights. This digitally driven organisation continues to build innovative highly sort after products and is now looking for an experienced Lead Data Scientist to help build their new data science function.
The Lead of Data Science will be responsible for the success of this green field initiative and for delivering successful projects using machine learning and other advanced techniques. The Lead Scientist will help gain useful insight out of raw and structured data. The ultimate goal is to improve the products (and models) and the business decisions made by making the most out of predictive analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Bring a strong problem-solving ability and expertise for statistical analysis to build out a green field data science function
- Lead data science projects through planning projects and building analytical models that in turn lead to improved products and the creation of new offerings
- Work with the wider business to understand the wider data landscape and to find opportunities to leverage from the existing platforms
Requirements:
- Proven track record leading a Data Science function within a commercial environment
- Solid understanding of machine learning with a knack for statistical analysis and predictive modelling
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex analytical concepts and results clearly to key stakeholders at all levels
- Strong knowledge of Python, R or MATLAB
- Ideally have a master’s or PhD in Statistics / Mathematics / Physics / Economics or another quantitative field
