Legal Innovation Business Partner
Whether your background is in law or technology, this role requires strong technical capability alongside a practical understanding of legal workflows and systems.
We are recruiting two Legal Innovation Business Partners to join our Innovation Team, focused on delivering scalable legal tech and automation solutions across the firm.
The Role
You will join our Innovation Team within the Technology function at Burges Salmon, working at the heart of how technology-enabled innovation is designed and delivered across the firm.
Working closely with lawyers, IT specialists, business services teams, and external vendors, you'll play a key role in identifying, evaluating and implementing legal technology and automation solutions that improve efficiency, enhance client service and modernise the way legal work is delivered.
Reporting to the Senior Legal Innovation Business Partner, this role combines technical expertise, solution design and hands-on delivery, with strong stakeholder engagement and change management.
What you'll be doing
• Identify opportunities to improve legal and business processes through technology, automation and data-driven solutions
• Evaluate, prototype and implement legal tech tools, including AI-enabled solutions, workflow automation and client-facing platforms
• Act as a technical subject matter expert on projects, translating business needs into practical, scalable technical solutions
• Lead pilots and proof-of-concepts, supporting testing, evaluation, stakeholder buy-in and firmwide rollout
• Work closely with IT, Legal Project Management, Technology Solutions and Online Services teams to embed new tools
• Partner with external vendors to assess commercial viability, integration, strategic fit, and long-term value
• Develop and support training and adoption programmes in collaboration with L&D and Change teams
• Stay up to date with advances in legal technology and the wider innovation landscape, sharing insight across the firm
What We're Looking For
• A degree (or equivalent experience) in IT, Computer Science, Technology, Business, law, or a related discipline
• Demonstrable experience working in legal tech, innovation, technology consultancy, project delivery, or process automation
• Strong understanding of legal technology and digital platforms including High Q, legal AI platforms, document automation tools, Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power apps and Power BI
• A solid grasp of the AI landscape and its practical application within legal and professional services
• Ability to prototype, test and evaluate technology solutions before scaling
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving change in a complex professional environment
• An understanding of how law firms operate and deliver value to clients
