Robert Half Financial Services are hiring for a Senior Accounting Manager role for a global Insurance firm located in downtown Manhattan New York. Our client requires an active CPA license, 10+ years Accounting experience within Insurance, and experience managing a large team (ideally 10+ people across global locations). Also must have strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, statutory reporting, month close and FP&A. The role requires 3 days per week in the downtown Manhattan office.

Reporting into the Chief Accounting Officer, this Senior Accounting Manager role will lead and scale the accounting operations function. Responsible for overseeing global accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions, and building a best-in-class accounting infrastructure to support continued growth.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

1. Lead and develop a global accounting operations team across multiple geographies, fostering a high-performance, accountable culture
2. Oversee hiring, training, performance management, and organizational design of the accounting operations function
3. Partner closely with senior leadership, including MGA (Managing General Agent) leaders and functional heads, to support business growth and operational decision-making

Accounting Operations & Close

1. Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the MGA businesses ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and consistency
2. Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis for the MGA businesses
3. Establish and maintain scalable accounting operations policies, procedures, and workflows across jurisdictions

Financial Reporting & Audit

1. Lead coordination of statutory audits across multiple entities and jurisdictions
2. Assist corporate function leaders and external auditors with the global consolidated audit
3. Serve as liaison with external auditors, ensuring efficient and high-quality audit execution
4. Oversee preparation of statutory financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, UK GAAP, and applicable local standards
5. Oversee the Company’s financial regulatory reporting

Controls & Compliance

1. Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control environment, and other regulatory requirements
2. Ensure compliance with global accounting policies, regulatory standards, and company governance frameworks

Business Partnership & FP&A Alignment

1. Act as a strategic finance partner to MGA leadership and corporate functions
2. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in coordination with FP&A
3. Provide actionable insights based on financial results and operational trends

Process Improvement & Transformation

1. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance scalability, efficiency, and accuracy
2. Support systems optimization and automation initiatives, including ERP and reporting tools
3. Drive standardization while accommodating local requirements

Qualifications:

1. Active CPA license
2. 10+ years Accounting & Financial Reporting experience within Insurance
3. Significant experience in the insurance industry, preferably within MGAs or brokerage environments
4. Experience managing a large team (ideally 10+ people across global locations)
5. Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, statutory reporting, month close and FP&A
6. Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle is advantageous
7. Bachelor Degree in Accounting

The Senior Accounting Manager role requires 3 days per week in the downtown Manhattan office, so please only apply if you are able to travel to this location, have relevant experience for the role and are eligible to work in the United States.
