A Tier 1 investment bank is looking to bring on a VP level candidate to their equities market risk team to cover their local exotics, flow, and corporate derivatives desks in New York City.
This person will be responsible for working directly with traders to assess risk usage and limit usage for the firms equities trading business. They will partner with traders to align risk appetite strategy, hedge strategy, and size risk limits. This hire will join a relatively lean team and have exposure to senior management and business decision makers, offering significant influence on the front office and within market risk.
The ideal hire will have at least 3 years of experience in market risk, ideally covering an equities trading business but the team is keeping their options open, any experience with fixed income repo, non-linear rates or non-linear FX will be considered a well.
Responsibilities:
- To provide market risk oversight for the firm's equity trading business in NYC. Covering flow, exotics, and corporate derivative trading desks
- Work with traders to explain risk metrics like VaR and P&L, explaining the drivers and changes
- Partner with traders and desk heads to setup risk limits, approve large trades, and optimize risk usage and risk appetite
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in market risk management ideally covering equities
- Strong knowledge of various equity derivative products or fixed income products like repo, non-linear rates, or non-linear FX
- Working ability in python and SQL
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a front office environment
