The Role
We are currently hiring for a Marine Underwriting Manager to lead an underwriting team and be accountable for business results across profitability, business development, analysis and portfolio monitoring. Working within broad authority and a technically complex environment, this role will set direction, support underwriting excellence and help deliver positive and profitable outcomes for the segment and line of business.
What You'll Be Doing:
Lead Underwriting Teams: Manage the work activities, performance and development of Marine underwriting staff, coaching and developing underwriters while supporting underwriting training.
Shape Underwriting Strategy: Make recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy, and review the application of policy and pricing across assigned risks and books of business.
Drive Business Performance: Prepare and present operational reports, monitor business results and support regional, branch and business strategies.
Build Broker Relationships: Lead the marketing of marine products and services through brokers, developing and cultivating relationships to support positive and profitable outcomes.
Maintain Market and Regulatory Awareness: Keep current on territory issues, regulations, industry activity and trends, while ensuring appropriate legal and regulatory compliance measures are in place.
What We're Looking For:
Leadership Capability: High level of ability to lead, coach and develop underwriting staff, with the confidence to manage performance and support team development.
Technical Underwriting Expertise: Advanced underwriting proficiency and significant experience with Marine.
Commercial and Analytical Judgement: Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deal with ambiguity and achieve business objectives.
Communication and Influence: Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external business partners at all levels.
Regulatory and Business Awareness: Appropriate knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, supported by experience using Microsoft Office and other business-related software.

The salary range for this role will be between €8225 and €9345 per month.
