We are partnering with a global investment management firm to hire an Associate Investment Strategist for its Shanghai team.
This position combines macroeconomic and market research, investment strategy, product expertise and institutional client engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with investment professionals, fund managers and commercial teams to translate complex research and portfolio views into clear, relevant insights for institutional investors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a detailed understanding of the firm's macroeconomic views, investment framework, portfolio construction and performance drivers.
- Present market outlooks, investment perspectives and portfolio implications to institutional clients, prospective investors and distribution partners.
- Act as a product specialist for the firm's investment strategies, providing clear explanations of portfolio positioning, performance attribution and strategy developments.
- Support client meetings, portfolio reviews, due diligence discussions and investor education sessions alongside senior investment and commercial stakeholders.
- Produce client-facing materials, including presentations, market commentaries, investment reports, educational content and other communications.
- Work with onshore and international investment teams to research macroeconomic, market and portfolio-related questions raised by clients.
- Conduct analytical projects covering topics such as asset allocation, portfolio construction, market dynamics and investment strategy.
- Build long-term relationships with clients by connecting the firm's research and investment thinking with their portfolio objectives and key investment considerations.
- Collaborate across investment, product, marketing and distribution teams to ensure consistent and accurate communication of investment views.
Candidate Profile
- At least three years of professional experience, preferably within investment research, macro strategy, asset management, investment consulting, product strategy or an institutional client-facing role.
- Bachelor's degree from a well-regarded university; a postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.
- Strong interest in macroeconomics, global markets, portfolio construction and investment management.
- Ability to understand complex investment concepts and communicate them clearly to sophisticated investors.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities.
- Confident presentation skills and experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in a collaborative, entrepreneurial and fast-moving environment.
- High level of professional judgment, attention to detail and integrity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
- An AMAC fund practitioner qualification, or the ability to obtain the relevant qualification.
