Our client is one of the world's leading asset management firms, with a strong presence across Asia and a diversified product platform spanning ETFs, SFC-authorized funds, UCITS, and alternative investment products. Due to continued business growth, they are seeking a Paralegal / Legal & Product Compliance Specialist to join their Hong Kong legal and compliance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with asset management legal experience gained either in-house or within a private practice law firm advising investment management clients.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the establishment, amendment, restructuring, and termination of investment products, including:
- SFC-authorized funds
- Luxembourg UCITS funds
- Cayman Islands funds
- Discretionary managed accounts
Support the ongoing maintenance of product regulatory status, including:
- Regulatory filings and reporting
- Compliance disclosures
- Offering document updates and amendments
Research regulatory registration and distribution requirements across different jurisdictions and assist with fund registrations and ongoing compliance obligations
Review and maintain various legal, compliance, regulatory, and internal control documentation
Provide legal and regulatory support to business development, product, and investment teams on day-to-day matters
Coordinate with regulators, external counsel, auditors, service providers, and other product counterparties as required
Assist with a broad range of legal, regulatory, product compliance, and corporate governance matters across the business
Support regional legal and compliance initiatives and participate in ad hoc projects as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related discipline
Approximately 3-8 years of relevant experience gained from:
- An asset manager, fund house, ETF platform, private bank, or financial institution; or
- A law firm supporting asset management, investment funds, or financial services clients
Experience supporting investment funds, including SFC-authorized funds, UCITS, Cayman funds, ETFs, or similar investment products
Familiarity with Hong Kong asset management regulations and fund-related legal documentation
Strong drafting, documentation review, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and work closely with both legal/compliance and business teams
Legal qualification is not required, although it would be considered an advantage
