Senior Associate - Data Engineer (Data Business CoE)
Description & Requirements
About us
Bain & Company is a global management consulting that helps the world's most ambitious change makers define the future. Across 65 offices in 40 countries, we work alongside our clients as one team with a shared ambition to achieve extraordinary results, outperform the competition and redefine industries. Since our founding in 1973, we have measured our success by the success of our clients, and we proudly maintain the highest level of client advocacy in the industry.
In 2004, the firm established its presence in the Indian market by opening the Bain Capability Center (BCC) in New Delhi. The BCC is now known as BCN (Bain Capability Network) with its nodes across various geographies. BCN is an integral and largest unit of (ECD) Expert Client Delivery. ECD plays a critical role as it adds value to Bain's case teams globally by supporting them with analytics and research solutioning across all industries, specific domains for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property. The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services.
Who you will work with
OPEXEngine, a Bain & Company solution, is a proprietary B2B SaaS benchmarking database covering 1,200+ participating SaaS companies, 250+ metrics, and 130,000+ validated data points. The platform ingests customer submissions, calculates financial, SaaS, go-to-market, headcount, and operating expense metrics, and publishes cohort-level benchmarks that Bain case teams and external customers use to identify performance gaps and prioritize where to improve.
The Senior Associate will work as a hands-on data engineer on the OPEXEngine data team, supporting end-to-end delivery across data ingestion and validation, metric calculation, and cohort and benchmark creation, while ensuring high-quality, scalable, and reliable data solutions.
What you'll do
This role requires strong hands-on experience in SQL, Python, relational data modeling, and data warehousing. The candidate will design and implement data pipelines, data models, and validation workflows, and is expected to scope features and make architecture decisions rather than execute only within a pre-defined scope.
The role includes active participation in project planning, stakeholder communication, and quality assurance to support timely delivery of high-impact work. Full-week coverage is required, with overlap into US working hours to support the onshore team.
The BCN Senior Associate will work closely with team managers, OPEXEngine Strategy & Ops leadership, Bain case teams, and external customers to build and deliver scalable, automated, and commercially relevant data solutions.
The working style of the team is centered on scalable product and capability development; therefore, pipelines and data solutions built in this role should be robust, automated, and designed for long-term maintainability. The individual should also be comfortable creating structure in ambiguity.

- Design and execute data cleaning rules that improve structural validity across the benchmark database.
- Scope, design, and build platform features that strengthen the data pipeline, such as validation tooling that flags taxonomy breaks and percentile performance views across the database.
- Make schema and architecture decisions across the ingestion, metric calculation, and benchmarking pipeline, ensuring solutions are scalable, automated, and maintainable.
- Gather business requirements and process knowledge from Strategy & Ops, and translate them into scalable data models, transformations, and outputs aligned to end-user needs.
