A leading global Fintech company is seeking an experienced Regulatory Compliance Officer to lead regulatory compliance initiatives for its Japan business. As part of a highly collaborative APAC and global compliance team, you will play a key role in monitoring regulatory developments, managing relationships with financial authorities, and supporting strategic projects tied to business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor Japanese regulatory and legal developments and provide impact analysis and compliance guidance to the business.
• Implement and maintain compliance frameworks aligned with Japanese regulatory requirements and operational processes.
• Lead regulatory filings, periodic reporting, and ad-hoc communications with Japanese financial authorities.
• Collaborate with merchants, service providers, and internal stakeholders to support business growth from a regulatory and compliance perspective.
• Partner closely with APAC and global teams to manage compliance-related projects and regulatory challenges tied to business expansion.
• Support governance, compliance controls, and internal regulatory initiatives across the Japan business.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with internal policies, operational risk frameworks, and financial regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in legal, regulatory compliance, or compliance-related functions within financial institutions or Fintech companies.
• Experience managing communications and reporting with Japanese regulatory authorities.
• Strong understanding of Japanese financial regulations and compliance frameworks.
• Bachelor's degree and over 3 years of professional experience required.

Soft Skills:

• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently manage and drive compliance initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across internal and external teams.
• Ability to work effectively within fast-paced and evolving business environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Language Requirements:

• Japanese: Native-level fluency required.
• English: Intermediate to business-level proficiency required for collaboration with APAC and global teams.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience within cross-border financial services or global Fintech environments is highly preferred.
• Exposure to governance, operational risk, or regulatory project management is advantageous.
• Knowledge of payments, merchant acquiring, or digital financial services is a plus.
