BAM is in a period of rapid technology transition. This role within our Global Production Engineering organization support our Operations and Finance platforms across the firm. You will work closely with Development, Operations, Accounting, Reference Data, Treasury, Portfolio Management, and external vendors to ensure the accurate and timely processing of trades and transactions, calculation and attribution of P&L, completion of end-of-day accounting processes, and delivery of critical data to downstream systems.
The role operates within a global follow-the-sun support model and requires strong communication, sound financial markets knowledge, and a proactive approach to identifying system, workflow, and service improvements.

You will work closely with Development, Operations, Accounting, Reference Data, Treasury, Portfolio Management, and external vendors to ensure the accurate and timely processing of trades and transactions, calculation and attribution of P&L, completion of end-of-day accounting processes, and delivery of critical data to downstream systems.

Responsibilities
- Lead first- and second-line application support for trade booking, position management, accounting, reference data, treasury, and related Operations and Finance platforms.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of end-of-day accounting processes, including P&L delivery and downstream data loads.
- Participate in the global follow-the-sun support model, including effective regional handovers and rotational evening and weekend escalation support.
- Partner with Operations, Finance, Treasury, Portfolio Management, and middle- and back-office teams to detect, resolve, and prevent issues that affect the business.
- Lead troubleshooting of internally developed applications and complex production issues across application, database, infrastructure, and workflow layers.
- Work with Development teams on new projects from requirements gathering through implementation and production support.
- Roll out new products and system changes, including user setup, testing, implementation support, and end-user education.
- Maintain high-quality documentation and knowledge resources covering platforms, workflows, message flows, operational procedures, common issues, and runtime dependencies.
- Monitor and investigate operational controls and reconciliations across trade capture, positions, P&L, accounting, cash, reference data, and downstream reporting; escalate exceptions through to resolution.
- Support critical inbound and outbound data integrations, including vendor feeds, APIs, message queues, FIX connectivity and troubleshooting, and managed file-transfer workflows.
- Manage the lifecycle of production connectivity, including new vendor or counterparty onboarding, SSH keys, certificates, IP allowlisting, firewall coordination, connectivity testing, and periodic access reviews.
- Design, implement, and maintain application observability using the OpenTelemetry stack, including instrumentation, metrics, logs, traces, and the OpenTelemetry Collector.
- Integrate observability data with tools such as Loki, AlertManager, ITRS Geneos, Grafana, Splunk and Prometheus to improve service health visibility, alerting, troubleshooting, and operational response.
- Define and maintain meaningful monitoring, dashboards, alerts, and service-level indicators for critical applications and workflows.
- Configure, monitor, and optimize automated jobs and dependencies using tools such as ActiveBatch and Airflow.
- Work with external vendors and internal technology teams to resolve technical issues, deliver system upgrades, and implement strategic enhancements.
- Use Jira and Jira Service Desk consistently for ticket, issue, change, and problem management.
- Track application capacity and performance, identify bottlenecks, and coordinate remediation in complex production environments.
- Drive measurable improvements in platform stability, resilience, operational efficiency, and DevOps and SRE practices.
- Promote knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and consistent support practices across the global team.
Qualifications
Required
- Proven experience leading or building financial technology application support teams, ideally across trading, middle-office, and back-office environments.
- At least five years of experience working for an investment bank, investment advisor, hedge fund, or financial technology provider.
- Strong experience supporting trade operations, accounting, portfolio, reference data, treasury, or related financial systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand and support internally developed systems using .NET, Python, and SQL Server.
- Strong SQL experience across relational database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, with familiarity with NoSQL databases.
- Strong experience supporting enterprise messaging platforms, such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, or Solace, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving message-delivery issues.
- Experience working with Agile Development teams and supporting production environments within an ITIL framework.
- Experience with Python, PowerShell, or other scripting technologies.
- Experience with commercial scheduling tools such as ActiveBatch, AirFlow.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows administration.
- Experience managing application performance, capacity, dependencies, and production bottlenecks.
- Experience supporting operational reconciliations, exception management, and control processes within trading, middle-office, or fund-accounting environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across Technology, Operations, Finance, Treasury, and external vendors.
- Willingness to provide rotational escalation support for other regions, including evenings and weekends.
- Relevant college degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred
- Experience implementing CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and SRE practices.
- Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, including application instrumentation, the OpenTelemetry Collector, distributed tracing, metrics, and structured logging.
- Experience with Splunk, ITRS Geneos, Grafana, Jira Service Desk, or similar support and monitoring tools.
- Experience supporting enterprise integrations, including APIs, message queues, vendor data feeds, and batch or file-based interfaces.
- Familiarity with secure connectivity and access-control practices, including SFTP connectivity, SSH certificates/keys, TLS certificates, secrets management, IP allowlisting, and firewall change processes.
- Experience with AWS or Azure, Kubernetes, Kafka, Snowflake, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with hedge fund operations, prime brokerage, fund accounting, or Advent Geneva.
- Experience with Arcesium, Northern Trust or PortfolioOne.
- Experience supporting data warehouses and downstream data distribution platforms.
