VP, Product Control – Valuations (Macro & Structured Notes)
Tallentire SingapourVP, Product Control – Valuations (Macro & Structured Notes)
A global investment bank with a 100-year history and offices in over 30 countries is hiring a VP for its Product Control function in Singapore. This is the valuations side of product control. You’ll own price testing, reserves and fair value across the Macro business and the bank’s Global Structured Note Issuance Programme. The product set is FX options, Bermudan swaptions, range accruals and bespoke structured trades, so there’s plenty to get your teeth into.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning the month-end valuation control cycle: independent price verification (IPV), reserve calculations, stale mark monitoring and FAS157 / fair value levelling of the balance sheet
- Explaining IPV results and reserve movements to the desk, and linking them to trading activity and market conditions
- Supporting the Structured Note Issuance Programme across its operational, technical and accounting sides
- Running pre-trade reserve analysis on new deals
- Sourcing the best market data, from OTC quotes to consensus services, to back up fair value
- Working closely with the wider product control team, Front Office quants, Model Validation, Market Risk and Accounting Policy
- Leading the automation of IPV and reserve processes, so less time goes on spreadsheets and more on analysis
- Challenging existing methods and ways of working, and making them better
What you’ll bring
- 7+ years in product control or valuations at an investment bank, broker or Big 4 firm. Risk, quant or trading backgrounds will also be considered
- Hands-on experience with IPV, valuation reserves and fair value hierarchy
- Good working knowledge of FX and rates derivatives, ideally including exotics or structured notes
- A degree in engineering, maths, finance or a related field. A CFA, CA, Masters or similar is a plus
- Strong Excel and VBA skills, with Python, C++ or Java a bonus
- The confidence to stand up to traders and explain valuation issues clearly to senior stakeholders
Why this role
It’s a VP seat with real ownership of a complex macro and structured book. The team wants someone to modernise how valuations are done, not just keep the process running. It’s a great next step for a product controller who wants a more technical, valuations-led role.
