Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter, Reinsurance to join our Reinsurance Underwriting Support team on a fixed term 1 year contract, full time during renewal periods (Oct-Jan), and part-time remainder of the year.

Our Reinsurance Underwriting Support team provides treaty reinsurance underwriting support across Sompo's global platform. We partner closely with brokers and internal stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely underwriting execution - combining strong technical contract understanding with disciplined data, diary, and process management. The team works cross-functionally with underwriting, operations, claims, finance, actuarial, legal and IT to support deal execution, renewals, and portfolio monitoring.

What you'll be doing:

• Log submissions and enter treaty data in underwriting system (Microsoft Dynamics CRM) ensuring accurate data input with strong attention to detail and quality assurance
• Adhere to underwriting process, operational controls, documentation completeness, and timeliness standards
• Support new deals and renewals (collecting prior year data/experience; accounting and wording issues)
• Manage underwriting diaries (slip/wording receipt and renewal submission receipt), monitoring activities, and cancellation-related workflows (e.g., NOC process)
• Produce and maintain underwriting reports (product tracking/control, pro-rata experience/metrics, ad hoc reporting) and management information reporting
• Communicate with brokers/clients when necessary and partner across underwriting, operations, claims, finance, actuarial, legal and IT

What you'll bring:

• Relevant reinsurance industry experience, including a solid understanding of reinsurance contract terms and conditions
• Strong technical and analytical capability with the ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality work
• Advanced MS Office skills (especially Excel) and familiarity with underwriting systems (MS Dynamics knowledge a plus)
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (additional languages an advantage) with strong interpersonal/organizational skills to work effectively across teams and levels
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, remain reliable under pressure during close/renewal periods, and maintain exceptional attention to detail
