Senior Financials Analyst - European Banks

We are working on behalf of a leading global investment platform seeking to hire a high-calibre Senior Financials Analyst to join a long/short, market-neutral equities team focused on the Financials sector, with a particular emphasis on European banks.
This is an opportunity for an experienced investor and sector specialist to play a meaningful role in idea generation and portfolio construction within a fundamentally driven investment team. The successful candidate will combine deep sector knowledge with rigorous analytical skills and a proven ability to develop differentiated investment views.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth fundamental research across European banking institutions and related financials sectors.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to support investment recommendations and ongoing monitoring.
- Generate actionable long and short investment ideas based on proprietary research and differentiated insights.
- Develop clear investment theses, identify catalysts and assess risk/reward dynamics.
- Present investment recommendations with conviction, including trade structure and position sizing considerations.
- Monitor portfolio holdings, earnings releases, regulatory developments and industry trends.
- Engage regularly with company management teams, industry participants and sell-side research providers.
- Collaborate closely with the Portfolio Manager and broader investment team to drive performance.
Candidate Profile
- 2-7 years of relevant experience covering European banks or financial institutions.
- Background within a hedge fund, long-only asset manager, or leading sell-side equity research platform.
- Strong expertise in analysing European banking business models, balance sheets, capital structures and regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional financial modelling and valuation skills.
- Demonstrable track record of generating investment ideas and contributing to investment performance.
- Genuine passion for markets and stock picking, with a long/short investment mindset.
- Strong intellectual curiosity, commercial judgement and communication skills.
