What you'll do:
As Vice President of Identity & Access Management at MUFG in London you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of secure access within one of the world's largest financial institutions. Your daily responsibilities will centre around leading a talented team in delivering robust identity solutions that underpin business operations across multiple regions. You will be instrumental in developing strategies that promote automation-first principles, removing manual bottlenecks while expanding self-service options for users. By fostering close collaboration with HR, IT Risk, Compliance and Infrastructure teams you will ensure seamless integration of IAM processes into broader organisational frameworks. Your oversight will extend to platform administration, including SSO/MFA systems and you'll take charge of operational communications during incidents or planned changes. Audit readiness is paramount; you'll lead evidence collection efforts for compliance requirements such as SOX or ISO 27001. Continuous improvement is embedded in your approach: you'll analyse recurring issues to drive process enhancements that reduce ticket volumes. Ultimately your success will be measured by your ability to deliver reliable identity services while nurturing a culture of teamwork and shared responsibility.
- Own and manage end-to-end Identity & Access Management (IAM) operations to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable identity services across both workforce and non-human identities throughout the organisation.
- Lead service delivery initiatives focused on automation and self-service capabilities while ensuring operational excellence across all IAM processes including joiner-mover-leaver lifecycle management.
- Oversee day-to-day IAM operations such as access requests, fulfilment workflows, incident response, problem resolution, change management, request handling, knowledge management, escalation procedures and on-call readiness.
- Direct operational communications by providing status updates, planned maintenance notices, user-impact messaging and post-incident reviews with measurable corrective actions to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Administer IAM platforms including SSO/MFA systems, directories, IGA administration tools, ITSM workflows and HR source-of-truth integrations while maintaining operational stability across dependencies.
- Lead audit and compliance execution for access controls by managing evidence collection processes, recertification activities, control testing support functions, remediation tracking efforts and sustained audit readiness.
- Establish an automation-first operating model targeting removal of repetitive manual tasks through workflow orchestration and reduction of ticket volume across IAM processes.
- Expand end-user self-service capabilities such as request catalogues, automated approvals, MFA recovery flows and identity/access status checks to reduce Service Desk dependency.
- Implement continuous improvement loops by analysing top ticket drivers, removing root causes through standardisation of processes and automating recurring issues for enhanced operational efficiency.
- Build strong partnerships across Security teams, Infrastructure departments, HR functions, application owners and enterprise service management teams to ensure cohesive delivery of IAM services.
What you bring:
Your proven experience as a senior leader in Identity & Access Management will be central to your success at MUFG. You bring deep technical expertise gained from operating IAM platforms at enterprise scale, supporting complex environments with multiple directories tenants M&A integrations directory consolidation app migrations.
- Extensive experience in Identity & Access Management (IAM), security operations or identity platform operations with at least 5 years leading teams in enterprise-scale environments.
- Proven track record operating IAM services at large scale, supporting thousands of users across multiple applications and regions with strong ITSM-aligned operational management skills including incident/problem/change/request handling.
- Demonstrated ability to manage third-party SI partners or managed services providers using scorecards SLAs escalations coverage models with measurable outcomes.
- Experience delivering automation initiatives using workflows APIs orchestration tools resulting in tangible reductions in manual effort ticket volume.
- Expertise supporting audits compliance requirements related to access controls (SOX SOC 2 ISO 27001 PCI or similar) including evidence production remediation tracking sustained audit readiness.
- Excellent stakeholder management communication skills enabling clear articulation of complex technical matters executive-level updates major incident leadership under pressure.
- High ownership operational rigour structured problem solving disciplined root cause analysis prevention mindset prioritisation roadmap discipline across run improve transform workstreams.
