Together we invest for a better future. We do it to make a difference to the lives of our clients and customers, our employees, society, and our shareholders. Our business is structured around three distinct areas focused on our clients' changing needs: Aberdeen Investments, Aberdeen Adviser, and interactive investor. As an Entity Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting this purpose while investing in your own tomorrow.

About the Department

Finance provides financial stewardship, insight and control across Aberdeen. Working closely with business leaders, boards and regulators, the function ensures robust reporting, sound governance and informed decision-making. The UK & EMEA Financial Reporting and Control team sits at the heart of this activity, partnering across Finance to support sustainable growth and help enable our clients to be better investors.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK & EMEA Financial Reporting and Control team in Edinburgh. As Entity Financial Controller, you will take responsibility for the financial management of a portfolio of Aberdeen legal entities, overseeing reporting, control, statutory and regulatory deliverables while challenging and interpreting outputs from Finance Operations. Through a combination of technical accounting, financial control and commercial insight, you will help drive high-quality decision making and governance across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and review legal entity financial reporting, providing clear insights and presenting board packs to senior stakeholders.

  • Maintain robust legal entity control through oversight of monthly P&L, balance sheet substantiation and IFRS reporting.

  • Oversee statutory accounts, regulatory reporting and audit activity, ensuring high-quality delivery from internal and outsourced providers.

  • Support technical accounting adjustments, local GAAP reporting requirements and statutory disclosures.

  • Partner with planning and performance teams to support legal entity forecasting, budgeting and financial decision-making.

  • Represent Finance in governance forums and, where appropriate, act as a finance representative on legal entity boards.

About the Candidate

  • Qualified Accountant - CA, ACCA or equivalent (essential)

  • Experience within financial control, accounting, audit or commercial finance in financial services or investment management (essential)

  • Strong understanding of IFRS, GAAP and financial reporting requirements (essential)

  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills (essential)

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using finance systems such as Oracle (essential)

  • German language skills (highly desirable)

  • Knowledge of German GAAP (highly desirable)

  • Audit experience (desirable)
