An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated Financial & Tax Accountant to join a well-established banking organisation in Sydney. Reporting to the Head of Financial & Accounting, you will play a key role in managing financial operations, taxation compliance and regulatory reporting while contributing to ongoing process improvement initiatives. This position would suit a CA or CPA qualified accountant with experience in banking or financial services who are looking to further develop their expertise across both financial accounting and taxation.
Your new role
Manage day-to-day financial operations, including payment processing, account reconciliations, journal entries and financial documentation.Prepare, review and lodge Australian tax obligations including BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and Corporate Income Tax returns.
Maintain tax documentation and assist with ATO reviews, audits and taxation-related requests.
Monitor changes in taxation legislation and assess potential impacts on business.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting and regulatory reporting requirements.
Support the development and enhancement of internal controls.
Participate in financial and tax-related projects, process improvement initiatives and stakeholder training.
Assist with both internal and external audit activities.
What you'll need to succeed
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.CA or CPA qualification or working towards.
Minimum 3 years' experience in financial accounting and taxation within banking or financial services.
Strong understanding of Australian taxation legislation, including GST, BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and Corporate Income Tax.
Solid knowledge of financial reporting & accounting principles
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.
Exposure to Power BI, Tableau or other reporting and analytics tools highly regarded.
High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Fluency in both English and Mandarin.
Must have full working rights in Australia.
